Before getting in touch, please read our guidance on how to report a fire risk. This will give you more information on what you can report to us, what we can help with and where to get help from other agencies.

If you are concerned about a friend or relative and need fire safety advice please call our home safety team on 0800 05 02 999.

You could try speaking to them and offering them support. You could also suggest they book a home safety visit. This is where one of our friendly technicians will come and visit them at home to talk about fire safety.

To request a free home safety visit, please complete our online referral form. The form takes just three minutes to complete.

To request an educational visit to a primary school please contact our education team use our online primary school visit form.

We are not able to arrange visits for individuals but we often have open days at our fire stations. We will advertise open days in our News section.

Educational visits to fire stations by youth organisations such as scouts and guides can be requested by completing our form.

 

If you would like to invite the Service to a community event or school fete then please use the forms on our community events page.

If you would like to arrange a fire safety talk for your group, please complete our form.

Use our forms to tell us about faults and repairs, send us building plans and tell us about the design and construction of walls.

Requests for fire reports and interviews may have a cost associated with them.

Reporting a fire safety concern or complaint

If you want to complain about fire safety in a business please see our information on how to report a fire risk.

Thank you for thinking of us. Unfortunately, we cannot accept donations of equipment or old vehicles e.g. cars, motorcycles, helmets or car seats.

We also can't accept donations of old fire service memorabilia, but local museums may be interested in a donation.

Frequently asked questions

Grey

Animal and bird rescues

If you see an animal in distress, contact the RSPCA. If they need our help, the RSPCA or another emergency service will contact us.

Never try to enter water or climb heights to rescue an animal yourself.

Car seats, motorcycle helmets and vehicles

Unfortunately, we cannot accept old vehicles. seats or helmets for training.

Community events

If you would like us to attend a fete or community event please use our form.

Electric blanket testing

We no longer test electric blankets at our fire stations.

Fire extinguishers

We do not dispose of old fire extinguishers. You should contact the supplier or manufacturer for advice or look for a recycling centre that will take it.

Hiring a fire engine

We do not hire out fire engines for weddings, proms, to fill swimming pools or for any other service.

Patches

We don't use patches so don't have any we can send to collectors. We do not gift or loan any firefighting kit or equipment to members of the public, former members of staff or any other organisation.

Work experience

Unfortunately, we can’t offer work experience placements. We are also unable to help with Public Service Course student placements or National Citizens Service (NCS) student projects.
